They are Definitely Attacking "Higher Education"

a friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.

as regards pursuing higher education?

the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

I don't know how this is working out in my mom's head. She somehow must think that education was bad because I stopped attending meetings at the same time I moved away to university. Yet, after I moved away, I became much less depressed. When I last visited, mom ventured, "So, next week it's another $XXX."

With a rather surprised look, I replied, "Oh no, I get paid twice that much!"

Mom: "Oh, you get paid every other week."

Me: "No. I get paid weekly $X,XXX, and take home about $XXX after deductions. It was more this last week since I had overtime with traveling."

Mom: "And how much are your student loan payments?"

Me: "$XXX. So one weeks pay just about covers my rent and my student loan payments for the month."

Mom: "Looks like you'll be able to pay back a lot of that student loan debt this year."

Me: "And I've started saving for retirement, both 401k and Roth."

Of course, I said it all with a big cheesy grin. Why hide the fact that I'm now happier than I've ever been? ... And it's all thinks to "higher education".

I was an elder when I started posting here. And I was a miserably unhappy ex-bethelite that had been trying to stifle my doubts and hang on until armageddon. There were very few JWs that had ever expressed the slightest doubts to me. It wasn't until I came here and started reading that I discovered that I wasn't alone. The "apostates" that WT had been condemning and trying to keep the sheeple away from really had the truth about the truth.

Looking back, I'm sure there were lots of JWs that I knew that had doubts that they dare not speak. I'm glad I'm not one of them that is still going through the motions and doing all the JW stuff in order to have "friends" or as "insurance" in case WT is right about the "panda petting paradise." But the longer I was in bethel, the less appealing a "WT paradise" sounded.

All these failed prophecies, all the hypocrisy, how anyone can still believe is beyond me.

If they're like many of the JWs I know, they are so personally invested in the cult that they couldn't possibly admit that it's a fraud, walk away, and live their lives without Watchtower.

There's lots of different ways to leave. Plenty have chosen to run for the nearest exit. Instead, if you choose to take your time, no need to worry--it's not like armageddon is coming tomorrow.

DC2015 New Release: Brochure "Return to Jehovah" for those who faded/left

it appears that a new 16-page brochure, with the title "return to jehovah" is to be released at the regional convention (dc) this year.

it would be written specifically for those faded or da/df.chapters are:a letter from the governing body1.

the lost one i will search for2.

If they start the thing with "A Letter From the Governing Body", the title should mirror that--"Return to the Governing Body".

I still don't consider 16 pages to be a "brochure". The pages will probably mostly be filled with the usual staged WT pictures. There will probably be "personal experiences" from numerous Andre-type WT muppets. And what little text is there will be written in the usual condescending style of WT as if addressing naughty children.

Of course, all the topics point the blame away from the lies and false prophecies of WT Corporation with their imperfect leadership and moral bankruptcy.

California Attorney Tries to Pass a Ballot Advocating Genocide for Gays

this ballot initiative put forth by matt mclaughlin, an attorney in southern california, would allow for the execution of gays by bullets to the head.

mclaughlin has to gather 365,000 signatures to put it up for a vote.

i'm in favor of gay rights but in my opinion this despicable ballot should make it to a vote knowing that it absolutely will not pass in order to publicize the demented mentality of fundamentalist christians in the united states.

Okay, I'm also confused by this:

c) No person shall distribute, perform, or transmit sodomistic propaganda directly or indirectly by any means to any person under the age of majority. Sodomistic propaganda is defined as anything aimed at creating an interest in or an acceptance of human sexual relations other than between a man and a woman. Every offender shall be fined $1 million per occurrence, and/or imprisoned up to 10 years, and/or expelled from the boundaries of the state of California for up to life.

Isn't this ballot initiative generating interest in "buggery"? Something like this is going to create a lot of conversation, curiosity, debate, and interest in this subject. Wouldn't Matt McLaughlin be the first fined and/or imprisoned for creating something like this? What's the deal with these fundies that they're soooo fascinated by the bedroom activities of other people? How is it that they seem to be consumed 24/7/365 by the thought of and discussions about "any person who willingly touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification"?

If someone looks around at the world (or even just California) today and decides that this is the biggest problem that needs to be addressed, that person is seriously nutso way beyond a lady that wants to kiss another lady (which isn't nuts, I couldn't blame either one for it), or a dude that wants to kiss another dude.

So sue me!
